Paris 21

Studies, 2003

In numerous countries, regardless of the continent, more than 80% or sometimes even 90% of the population live in urban zones. Northern Europe is itself being rapidly transformed into one great mega-pole, occupying the totality of its land. The urban life style has become a globally accepted norm generating the abundance and adversity which urbanism tries to overcome. The capital city of Paris is one of the densest in the world.

Together with the greater Parisian region, it forms the largest agglomeration in Europe. On the grounds of the entrances to the 20th arrondissement, a permanent exhibit of urbanism has been created: a stimulating showcase of knowledge and know-how, an experimental laboratory for urban design in the 21st century.
